“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.” (Colossians 4:2-4 NIV)
While my husband and I were on our first mission trip, my husband treated patients in a ladies home as the people lined up at the door. As he looked at me, he said, “This is what I’ve always wanted to do.” And not long after that, he also made this statement, “Physical help is temporary and spiritual help is eternal.”
It is by the power of the Holy Spirit at work in and through our lives can we accomplish anything of eternal value. We may start out helping with food, medicine, clothing, etc, but the greatest gift is leading other to eternal life. And may we never forget to show others the value of His Word to help them in their spiritual walk with Him.
Father, please give us open doors, open hearts, and open ears. Help us to be so rich in Your Word that the Spirit might bring it to mind for the people He brings into our paths.
